It’s a cliche to call a Rolex submariner iconic, but few watches are more apt. Since its introduction in 1953, the Rolex submersible has been a prototype for contemporary diving watches, and almost every existing diving watch has been influenced in some way by the Rolex Submariner. The word “iconic” can be overused (especially in the luxury watch industry); the submarine, however, is a real icon.
In addition to being one of the pioneers of replica watches, the Rolex Submariner has been able to remain at the forefront of diving watch technology. While traditional mechanical diving watches have been effectively replaced by modern diving computers, the Submariner was the first watch to introduce a range of functions and features that later became the industry standard for all diving watches.
Although replica Rolex Submariner has been in production for more than half a century, little has changed over the years. The design and appearance of Submariner have been updated as better technology and materials have become available; At its core, however, the current version of the Submariner is very much the same watch that Rolex first released to the public over 65 years ago.
